Moving to a new apartment or home can be hard work especially furnishing it. That’s why we are going to cover how to furnish an apartment from scratch and provide a checklist to make your life easier. We are going to furnish this apartment under $1000 and try to make it look as modern and sleek as possible. Obviously, everyone has their own style so free to pick and chooses items that fit your taste. So let’s get started!
Mattress and Comforter
Let’s get a bed first so at worst you can sleep in the apartment without having to sleep on the floor. We think splurging on a mattress is essential that is why we are spending a good chunk of our budget on it. You spend a good portion of your life sleeping so it is important that you get a good one that provides support for your back and that is comfortable. You also want one that is good quality and will last you a while.
This is a bit less expensive mattress, but still provides good support and has great reviews. Better for a tighter budget since the bed profile is lower than the first mattress we mentioned.
Pillows and Sheets
We opted for 100% cotton sheets versus the microfiber as they are higher quality and are softer. You could get microfiber sheets for half the cost if you on a real tight budget. 600 thread count cotton sheets are a great value and provide a soft and luxurious feel.
These are microfiber sheets which are a bit cheaper.
Bed Frame and Headboard
For a cheaper option that gets the job done this frame is perfect. It’s raised off the ground so you can store items below the bed. Really useful for small apartments where storage space can be an issue!
This is a nice sectional that is comfortable and a great value. It’s not that big which makes it perfect for smaller apartments. Many reviews talk about how easy it is to assemble even by yourself.
Couches can be expensive and sometimes you don’t want to invest that much into it especially if you are moving. Futons are great alternatives because they act like couches, but can turn into beds when you have a guest over. If you are on a super tight budget then you can even use the futon as a main bed. We don’t recommend this as most futons aren’t comfortable for extended nights, but sometimes you have to make due with what you have.
Another cheap futon option with great reviews.
Blankets for the Couch
An area rug is a great addition if you have the budget for it, but it’s not a must have in initially. However, this rug is pretty reasonably priced if you want something quick and cheap.
Plates and Bowls
A bit cheaper if you really want to save money, but we like the Victorinox as a first chef’s knife
Non-Stick Pan and Pot
Spatula and Utensils
Shower Curtain and Bathroom Mats
